Peoplehub was originally set up in 2012 to enable people with long-term health conditions and disabilities to have more choice and control over their health and well-being. It was co-founded by people with lived experience and knowledge of some of the earliest personal health budgets in the country, and was instrumental in the development and implementation of national personal health budget policy and practice.
We have spent 14 years developing, co-creating and promoting good practice in personal health budgets and in co-production. After much deliberation, we have made the decision to close peoplehub this year.
The People Hub Network CIC will dissolve in the Autumn of 2026.
We want to thank everyone who has worked with us and contributed to the success of peoplehub over the last 14 years. In particular, we want to thank all the people with lived experience of long term health conditions and disabilities who have so generously shared their knowledge, experiences and expertise for the benefit of others.

The Spectrum of Participation
The peoplehub Spectrum of Participation is being widely used and referenced across the health and care system. The Spectrum offers organisations the opportunity to better clarify power in decision-making, in order to more effectively share that power with people with lived experience.
We are hopeful that this increasing awareness of power in decision-making will support more power in people’s hands. Done well, this will lead to people with long term health conditions and disabilities having greater control over health and care policy and practice, both nationally and on an individual level.
Ultimately, the best method for ensuring quality and improvement of any health policy lies in co-production of standards which are regularly monitored and rigorously upheld. This requires a sound understanding of how to seek and work with people’s experiences and ideas.
Therefore, the Spectrum of Participation resources will be located on a new specific, independent website to enable their continued uptake and effective application.
From Friday 14th August 2026, the peoplehub website will stop functioning, and all visitors will be redirected to the new independent website, which is www.spectrumofparticipation.com
